DH got admitted to the hospital this week. Poor guy got an abcess, which is bad enough on its own, but it's also playing havoc with his diabetes.

The first day was very hard on him--he says this is the worst pain he's ever experienced. They gave him really potent painkillers and now he's getting IV antibiotics. Luckily it seems to be getting better and there's even talk of him coming home tomorrow.

I'm getting too good at this whole routine. I'm spending way too much time in hospitals, between all of my mother's issues and now this. It all looks the same--pack a bag, go to the ER, make a list of symptoms and medications, repeat the entire story to every doctor, nurse, intern, and interested bystander, watch someone you love suffer, try to get a decent meal out of the vending machine, wait for a bed to be assigned, trudge up and get them settled, go find your car, grab a couple hours of sleep, deal with work, then head to the hospital. It's just too familiar these days.

Luckily it was a quiet week for work, so it wasn't a problem for me to miss a few days. And the hospital DH is in is really nice. All of the rooms are private, and they have room service menus and better cable than we have at home. There's even 32 on demand movies you can watch for free. I guess if one must go to the hospital this is probably about the best place to do it.

But I'm tired of the whole routine. I just want everyone to stay healthy for a while!!!
